Our commitment
Proximity Plumbing wants every customer, including people with disability, older people, and people using assistive technology, to be able to find us, understand what we do, book a job and get help without barriers. That commitment applies to our website and to the way our team works in your home.
We are guided by the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Cth), the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW) and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 published by the W3C.
Our website
Target standard: WCAG 2.2 Level AA.
Current status: partially conformant. The site launched in October 2026 and was built with accessibility in mind; we are working through an independent audit and will update this page as items are closed out.
What we have done:
- Clear heading structure and logical reading order on every page
- All navigation, forms and the booking widget operable by keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator
- Text alternatives on informative images; decorative images hidden from screen readers
- Colour contrast of at least 4.5:1 for body text and 3:1 for large text and interface components
- Text resizable to 200% without loss of content, and layouts that reflow on mobile
- Form fields with visible labels, clear error messages and no time limits
- Captions or transcripts on video content we produce
- Links that make sense out of context ("Book a plumber" rather than "click here")
- No content that flashes more than three times per second
- Skip-to-content link at the top of each page
Known limitations we are working on:
- Some older PDF documents (compliance guides, strata reports) are not yet tagged for screen readers: ask us and we will send an accessible version
- Third-party embeds (Google Maps, Google review widgets, the online booking tool) are controlled by their providers and may not fully meet WCAG 2.2; a phone or email alternative is always available
- Automatically generated captions on some older videos may contain errors
Alternative ways to reach us
If any part of the website is difficult to use, you can always:
- Phone us on (02) 9388 7292: our office team will book, quote and answer questions by phone
- Emailadmin@proximityplumbing.com.au
- SMS0420 102 394 if you prefer text
- Ask for information in large print, plain text or another format
- Use the National Relay Service: 133 677 (TTY/voice), 1300 555 727 (speak and listen) or relayservice.gov.au, and ask for (02) 9388 7292
- Use the Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS National) on 131 450 if English is not your first language
In your home
Our plumbers are trained to work respectfully in every household. If it would help, tell us when you book and we will:
- allow extra time, or send a plumber who has worked with you before
- call ahead at the time you prefer and knock or ring in the way you ask
- explain the problem and the quote in plain English, in writing, or to a support person, carer or family member you nominate
- give you time to consider a quote: our plumber will step outside rather than wait over you
- take care with mobility aids, assistance animals and access equipment on site
- provide written confirmation of what was done and any follow-up, in the format you need
Assistance animals are always welcome. Our team will never be alone with a child or vulnerable person without a responsible adult present.
