SEASON BY SEASON

Seasonal plumbing guide

Weather in Haymarket right now: see today’s forecast.

Summer

Summer storms dump a lot of water at once. Clear leaves from gutters, downpipes and stormwater pits before the storm season starts.

Autumn

Falling leaves block gutters and stormwater pits. A quick clean now saves an overflow when the rain comes.

Winter

Hot water systems work hardest in winter. If yours is over ten years old, or the water runs lukewarm, get it checked before it fails.

Spring

Tree roots grow fastest in spring and head for the water in older clay sewer pipes. Slow drains now are an early warning.
