Roots grow towards sewer pipes because they hold water, nutrients and oxygen—things roots crave.Disturbance to pipes and sidewalks caused by roots is one of the most commonly cited complaints about trees. We were called by a client in Bondi after reports of a blocked drain. Based on our initial investigation, the pipes are clogged with tree roots.
We completed 2.5 hours of drain clearing and auditing of the shared sewer line and stormwater line at the rear of the property.
Tree roots were removed from sewer pipe in no 15. The tree roots have caused cracking to the ceramic pipework and Relining is recommended to be completed urgently.
The stormwater shared service has a large tree root approximately 40mm in diameter grown in on the boundary between 15 and 17.
There is noticeable dislodgement in the pipe joints and we believe a large amount of water is leaking into the ground during heavy rain.
On completion all areas were cleaned. If you’ve found that there are trees around your sewer line, or you’re noticing the signs of a sewer line break, contact Proximity Plumbing for a sewer line inspection.
