Trees can add a lot of character to your property, but if not maintained, they could cause a problem on your plumbing system. If there are any weak points or cracks on your pipes, tree roots can make their way into it. Proximity Plumbing received a call from a client in North Bondi after reports of gurgling through the house sewer system.
The tradesman located the boundary trap and found it to be blocked. Then they set up a high pressure jetter and camera then cleared it within an hour. The blockage was found to be caused from tree roots located at the base of the earthenware sewer shaft which is on the opposite side of road as pictured. The boundary trap is in pvc and continues to pvc up to the inlet of the sewer shaft.
To permanently repair this we therefore recommend excavation in the road at a depth of approximately 2 meters deep to replace/reline the shaft through to the inlet of boards main. If you find yourself with tree roots in your pipes, you’ll need to contact a professional plumber to remove them and get your water flowing again.
